Shooter and Rusty (Blue Healer Pups)

Does this totally belong in the pet section or what??!! The perfect photograph to introduce the summer season of killer pet portraits.

What can I say in regard to Shooter and Rusty? Stir up some sibling rivalry, toss in a measure of carefree innocence and finish with the wide-eyed wonder wonder of exploring a wide new world. That's how it is...much like photographing kids, actually!

Maizy (Pomeranian)

We've been designing image collages and promotional materials for ten days straight...it's time to get back to work taking pretty pictures!!!!

Hence, the opportunity for you to meet Maizy. Maizy has the run of the house...and probably has as much energy as any of the four kids in the home that she has to keep up with! Maizy could probably do backflips if you wanted...but please don't provide the temptation!

For her portrait, all I had to do was let her do her thing...

"Prince": Seal-Point Siamese

Prince2b

Hey...he does look quite royal! Appropriate name. All we're missing is the crown and scepter and flowing robes!

Prince has the run of his country estate. Which means( and I'm not sure quite how 'royal' this aspect of his world is): he is more than likely a mouser! That's great that he is adept at keeping the grounds of this country home free from various and sundry rodents and varmints; now, if he could just do something about those coyotes!

With a cat this regal, only black and white will do. Simply timeless and...well, royal.

Let...Go...Varmint!!!

Chloe167

This commission was a hoot...er, as they say in North Dakota!

Meet Chloe...a playful little shhheeeezzzuuuuuu. Evidently, the critter likes to get up close and personal when it comes to having her portrait taken. Well, this is just fine with me...as long as she doesn't start expecting treats as part of the deal! (cus', that's like, not in my contract, you know...)

Beretta of Sandhill: Wire-Haired Pointing Griffin

Dawg59x

What a unique critter!

Beretta is an distinctive, high-end dog...coveted for their intensive breeding which results in appealing qualities and superior hunting prowess.

But don't let that stop you from correctly suspecting that Beretta rules this household...and wants you to know it! Remember, high-end means...high maintenance!!

A rather elusive creature, this Beretta...but what an attractive and likable dawg nonetheless! I'm glad she let me create her portrait (actually, I think she was after the barbecue on my plate).

R

P.S. I believe the "of sandhill" may refer to her familiar perch on the beach near the lake home during the summer!

Brandy...

Hey...anybody remember that classic early 70's tune: "Brandy (You're a fine girl)"??? Hey...name the band and the year for bonus points!

Well, hey...she truly is a fine girl.

Actually, Brandy is a two month old chocolate lab pup. You can imagine the level of playfulness. So, don't expect any more shots of her sitting in the remainder of her portfolio!

Don't Bother Me Now...I'm Napping!

Chloe56

Boy, I don't play fair, do I?? Give you a totally-cute, emotionally-charged photo to just hook you right away at first sight and make you go, "awwww..."

The critter in our photos of the day happens to be Chloe. She is a Puggle! What is a Puggle, you ask? A Puggle, in the much-anticipated answer to our riddle of the day, is a Pug/Beagle cross; so, naturally, she is a little confused(ha).

She is also filled with boundless energy, addicted to treats, can curl her tail into a tight circle when excited (which is 23 hours a day), knows how to ring the bell when she is ready for a trip to the backyard (see...smart as a whip, I tell you) and, on top of all that, can melt your heart by posing in photos such as these.

Last, but not least, check out the hand-painted toe nails! Now, I ask you, how many pets do you know with a "peticure". (ooh...bad pun, huh?)

A Chihuahua named Cinderella (er..Cindi for short!!)

Cindi18

Boy, is this a 'steal your heart' kind of image or what.

I am proud to introduce you to Cindi! She even has her own wardrobe...so, on her next portfolio, I'm sure you'll see her sporting some of the latest couture fashions as well as simply being undeniably photogenic.

So, as the tide of winter changed one chilly dusk with the rising winds beating against the windows, threatening the long-feared onset of the lingering cold, we romped inside with Cindi, watching her emanate warmth and playfulness into the frozen doldrums of a winter's night.

Dolly (Siamese Cat)

Mpts16a

Dolly is at that really intriguing, entertaining stage between having the all-encompassing playfulness of a little kitten (which she was just weeks ago) and the prowling, independence of a mature cat. Translated: no shortage of memorable photo ops!

Plus, Dolly has broken the series of Calico Cat portfolios by being my first Siamese. Couldn't have asked for a better model...even though she kept me rolling on the floor with the camera, looking under beds and silently expressing gratitude for the invention of autofocus!

Skyy (Ferret!!)

The definitive embodiment of inquisitive! Incessantly in motion! More wiggly than a fresh-scrubbed little kid in a church pew on Sunday Morning!

These descriptions are all perfect for Skyy, snowflake-colored ferret, our star supermodel of the day. Gave me perhaps my biggest workout of any pet assignment yet! Constantly seeking corners, confined spaces, the undersides of beds (reminds me, I should clean under mine) and one unsuspectingly open camera bag!

And how often do I have the honor of creating an image portfolio of a ferret??! These pet portraits are becoming more and more unique; altho, I do have to admit, it's gonna be hard to top the African Water Frogs!
