Beamer, A.K.A. "The Desired Choice", and Hadley

Bh71_2

As always, a wonderful commission with my Grand Forks/lake families. Overnighting in Grand Forks, being treated to an awesome breakfast scramble at the home of Hadley's family and heading up 81 to the horse ranch to get Beamer out of his stall and into the limelight.

Boy, on these shots, Hadley was seriously working the camera! Can you tell she and I had been watching marathon sessions of "America's Next Top Model" the day before?!?! Hey, two totally photogenic models for the price of one...does it get any better than this?!

Check out Hadley on the professional showmanship circuit in the coming year...as in, we'll see you at the top!

P.S. We'll give you another taste of our shoot on tomorrow's post

Maya ("Mountain Treeing Feist")

I'll bet you have never seen or heard of this breed before!

And check this out...Maya, along with sibling Lucy, are destined to be mousers! And you thot only kitty cats were born to be mousers.

All the intensity and innocence of being a puppy was personified in Maya during the image creation on this particular day, something that served to breathe warmth into an otherwise chilly October day. And that certainly made my day.

Zack and Cody...(I kid you not): African Water Frogs

Okay...so, this is, ah...the most unique pet photography assignment I expect to have this year...or perhaps, for all time! Zach and Cody, who were so innovatively named by the kids in the family, are bound for a life solely in water, that is to say the aquarium for now...as their eventual destination wiill be a world filled with frolicking, swimming and lallygagging (lallygagging??) in the backyard pond. Well, at least when the weather warms up anyway.

So, until their new home is ready in a sunny and much warmer future, enjoy these images of our newfound friends in their transitional water paradise!

More Dream Kitchens...

Our promotional work for Muus Do It Best Lumber and Hardware takes us to North Minot where we find this lovely kitchen featuring many innovations. In particular, the dark appliances and wall accents are very striking, complimented by the appeal of the birch wood cabinets. See for yourself in this dream kitchen folio:

Into the Woods...with AnnaBelle

I have been so looking forward to this shoot...our first together in over six months (how do our schedules always become so crazy??)

Went deep into the woods in search of inspiration...and it was all about perspective, the towering trees and luminous light, the exotic beauty before my lens, the laughter shared in an unusually warm late October breeze.

I sooo have the best job in the world. Here's why:

I couldn't resist....

I had to do this post featuring more from our session with the kitties the other day....and now you know why!

The Kittens of 11th Street

_cat0290

Omigosh...grab the kitty formula and some string for them to play with...we're hangin' with the five week old kittens! (and I thot the childrens' photography would steal your heart...)

I think at least one of these kittens adopted me on the night of our session...way too much licking and gentle nibbling and purring (now, if I can just get a ladyfriend to pursue that...ha)

Enjoy our portfolio feature of the kittens from eleventh street.

Fun and Frivolity in the Pumpkin Patch...

Part of the fun on Cat's senior session the other day was capturing a shot with the siblings.

Call it one part one part spontaneity, two parts rapturous laughter, a pinch of cardio workout and a dash of carefree frolicking about the pumpkins and hay bales and straw figures.

Now that's what I call the successful recipe for a siblings lifestyle portrait.

Bismarck Century Centahnas Volume Two: Welcome to Cat's Crib!!

Cat168z

Cat:

I thot the above image and the title of the post would be totally appropriate for the warm nature of your personality and the way your family has welcomed me into your lives. I think your Mom deserves a medal for photographic assisting, chauffeuring us around and baking some amazing homemade cookies for us on the day of your session! Plus, after feeding me grilled cheese and homemade pea soup on our break during your session, you're going to have a hard time getting rid of me!(ha)

As for your shoot, what can I say? Your expressions were consistent and radiant...and your personality really showed through in your portraits, which means the images are full of warmth and life. I couldn't have asked for a better shoot; in fact, I remember how hard it was for all of us to see the day end!

From the historic buildings and the mind-blowing interior of our dance series location to the fun-loving spontaneity captured at the hay bales and at your 'crib', we had the perfect blend of ideal locations and graceful light to compliment your expressions. I can't ask for any more out of a session; what a perfect way to spend a sweet October day.

Thanks for being in front of my lens and for letting me help you celebrate this moment in your life.
